Town of Port au Port West - Aguathuna - Felix Cove

Municipal Plan Public Hearing - Town Office

7:00pm to 9:00pm, Thursday, November 7, 2019

Please take notice that the Port au Port West - Aguathuna - Felix Cove Town Council adopted proposed Municipal Plan (2019-29) and Development Regulations (2019-29) at a regular meeting of Council held on September 20, 2019. The proposed documents, if given subsequent final approval by Council and registered with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment, will be the first Municipal Plan and Development Regulations for the Town.


The proposed documents may be inspected at the Town Office (see address below) between Monday and Friday during regular business hours, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., until the scheduled date of the public hearing (Thursday, November 7, 2019). Alternatively, the proposed documents can be downloaded here.

A public hearing to hear representations and objections to the proposed Municipal Plan (2019-29) and Development Regulations (2019-29) is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Town Office (see address below). As per section 20 of the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000 (the “Act”),  not fewer than two (2) days before the date set for the public hearing, a person or an association of persons may submit to Council two (2) signed, written statements of objections and representations with respect to a plan, development regulations or a part of them. In accordance with subsection 21(1) of the Act, the scheduled public hearing may be cancelled if no objections are received by 48 hours before the date/time of the scheduled public hearing (7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2019).

Town of Port au Port West - Aguathuna - Felix Cove

Municipal Plan Public Meeting #2 - Town Office

7:00pm to 8:30pm, Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Council is proceeding with the development of the Town's first Municipal Plan. This is the second of two scheduled public meetings (first was held on October 10, 2018). To date, SCP also conducted a community-wide survey, pop-up informational booth, and interviews with community stakeholder groups. The summary of public input is outlined in the Municipal Plan Background Report (2018) and can be downloaded here. This input also helped inform the development of the Draft Municipal Plan and Development Regulations, which can be downloaded here.


This second public meeting will also mark the end of the public participation program. The meeting will be informal with drop-in format. The Draft Municipal Plan and Development Regulations will be on hand to browse. Digital and paper mapping will also be available to view proposed zoning. Council will consider feedback from the public meeting in contemplating any changes to the Draft Municipal Plan and Development Regulations. Council wishes to have the Municipal Plan and Development Regulations completed and registered by summer, 2019.

Public participation is a key part of gaining feedback from residents in developing the Plan. It is important that community members provide input so that the registered documents are relevant and effective.
